the last few months have been so busy I finally feel like I am having the chance to settle down. It hasn’t been long since I’ve been back from Philly and New York. The Speaking in Tongues show at Black Vultures was arguably the funnest show I’ve ever had the chance to be a part of…
I finally had a chance to meet many of the artists I’ve only been able to work with long distance. It is a pleasure to know artists that are not only creative and talented but a joy to have a beer (or 6) with as well. Buddy Nestor certainly knows how to curate a show.
Once I got back to Seattle I was excited to be able to be a part of The Drum of the Draw. A live drawing event put on by the great Robert Hardgrave. We are lucky to have him living with us in Seattle.
Drum of the Draw gets a group of local Seattle artists together in one room to draw and chat and drink the occasional beer or two. It’s open to the public so you sell a couple sketches and enjoy a day of hanging out with artists and people that like art.
It definitely feels like the Seattle art scene is growing stronger and its exciting to be able to be a part of that. I sat next to a charming young woman artist painting small pictures of people throwing up rainbows. You can’t beat that.
